New Incoming Directory
Posted by Fenwar on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 - 12:41 (EST)

Those of you who prefer to upload via ftp should make a note of the new drop-box at ftp.df-21.org/uploads/.

You can see files in the directory once they have been uploaded, but you can't download or overwrite them.

New Staff Members
Posted by Fenwar on Thursday, May 2, 2002 - 17:36 (EST)

Since he knows more about how these things work than me, japh (Satya) has joined the DF-21 staff as an Assistant Webmaster and resident perlmonger.

Also, Kevin "Jackson" Jackson has joined the staff as a forums moderator. Respect that shiny blade ;-)

The site is now in safe more hands.

Oton "Fish" Ribic has sent in an excellent article about the creation and editing of sound effects (Articles), from recording the source with your microphone through to how to use filters and effects to get the best results.

intjacob has posted a review of Condition Red over at JI Reviews.

Also, the Katarns' review of Don Sielke's Dark Forces levels has been added to reviews.df-21.org.

Project Section Back Again (sort of...)
Posted by Scape Goat on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 - 7:23 (EST)

The project update submittal form is not working. Why? I don't know, don't particularly care, and certainly wouldn't fully understand if it were explained to me anyway. So, we're going to be doing projects Dark Forces: 1999 style for a while...

Send a e-mail to Scapegoat@df-21.net. Put either "New Project" or "Project Update" in the subject line (or anything similar). Include all of the required fields from the Submittal form like this:

Name: Your name
E-mail: (if different from the address you're sending from)
Title: Name of your project
Description: blah blah blah
Update: blah blah blah...

The only difference between this method and the form is that you have to do a little more work. Just make sure it's understandable and I'll figure it out.

New Article
Posted by Fenwar on Sunday, May 19, 2002 - 9:07 (EST)

DarthDoctor has posted an article entitled Dynamic Geometry, which covers some INF techniques for changing the level itself on different difficulty settings, and creating a key-sensitive forcefield.

Project updates & form working again
Posted by Scape Goat on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 - 15:47 (EST)

Apparently Fenwar (or someone posing as Fenwar) has done something to make the project submittal form work as it's supposed to. That, in most circles, is considered a good thing.

Two projects have been updated with progress information:
Boba Fett: Assassination on Nar Shaddaa by Barry Brien
Cloudspear: Part 1 by Kevin Buscemi
