Marley has released a new demo of an as-yet-untitled level in progress...

df-21.org Server Upgrade
Posted by Fenwar on Friday, April 5, 2002 - 15:11 (EST)

I have been informed that the hosts of df-21.org are upgrading their servers on Tuesday morning (9th April 2002). The sections of the site hosted there will probably be inaccessible for a short while; I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

df-21.net is unaffected by this change, so the home page and forums will remain online throughout. Download links will probably stop working, but many files are still available from ftp://df-21.net if you desperately need to download something!

Upgrade In Progress
Posted by Fenwar on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 - 11:39 (EST)

As I type this, DF-21.org is completely inaccessible. Hopefully the upgrade should be complete within the next few hours; I'll keep you posted.

You can still download most recent missions- right-click and copy the link you want, paste into your address bar and replace ".org" with ".net".

You can follow the progress of the upgrade at http://www.integrahosting.net/upgrade.html.

Upgrade Status
Posted by Fenwar on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 - 16:05 (EST)

The upgrade appears to be complete now; download links are working again, but subdomains aren't yet available so some pages still won't work. These will hopefully be set up in the next 24 hours.

As always, let me know if you happen to spot any broken downloads!

New Demo; Upgrade Status
Posted by Fenwar on Sunday, April 14, 2002 - 8:55 (EST)

Taton Qek has released the final version of his level, Imperial Asteroid Mining Facility (Demos). Although it's described as "unfinished", there's quite a bit to look at.

It looks like the upgrade is now complete, as subdomains are working again. Let me know if you have any problems.

One Room Wonders Contest - One Week Left to Vote!
Posted by Fenwar on Sunday, April 14, 2002 - 16:01 (EST)

It's still very close in the voting, and a couple of votes could swing the contest... if you haven't already made up your mind, what are you waiting for? contest.df-21.org is where you should be clicking...

New Article - Installing & Configuring Dark Forces
Posted by Fenwar on Sunday, April 21, 2002 - 9:29 (EST)

I finally got round to organising the various knowledge we have about getting DF running on newer systems into a handy Article. Any further tips, corrections or contributions are definitely welcome.

One Room Wonder Contest - Result!
Posted by Fenwar on Sunday, April 21, 2002 - 14:53 (EST)

Voting has now closed in the One Room Wonders Contest...

The result:

  1. 1st: Raid on the Ovarid - Jacqueline Foss: 41%
  2. 2nd: Untitled - Barry Brien: 23%
  3. 3rd: Armed & Dangerous - Kevin Jackson: 18%
Congratulations to Jackyfrost! Also, thanks to everyone else who took part- there was plenty of innovation on show!

The levels will still be available from contest.df-21.org for the immediate future.

Project Section Back
Posted by Scape Goat on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 - 7:41 (EST)

The Projects section is back, but it dragged something home with it...

The Project submittal form is now open for business, and I'll be handling the updates indefinitely. It sounds like Fenwar ran into some sort of technical problem with the new projects system. It must be pretty bad, since he's gone and let me back into the pantry.

It's been a long time since I did this stuff, so expect a slip up or two.

Crisis Over
Posted by Fenwar on Monday, April 29, 2002 - 13:10 (EST)

It looks like pretty much everything is back, now.

What's not: anything in ftp.df-21.net (mirrored on ftp.df-21.org anyway), email redirects (mail me to get yours set up again if you had one before) and the poll script, because the database didn't make it over.

Thanks again to Satya, who is a legend and without whom most of this stuff would still be broken, and also to Scape Goat and Jackson for their assistance over the weekend. And to anyone else who helped out or offered to help out. Couldn't have done it without you, etc...

New Mission, New Utility, It's Like The Weekend Never Happened
Posted by Fenwar on Monday, April 29, 2002 - 15:13 (EST)

Trip Stallings has mailed in the deluxe edition of the popular Desalinization Plant: Imperial Clean-up (Downloads/Missions/A-L). It replaces the old desal.zip which appeared to have been corrupted in some way.

Oton "Fish" Ribic, a recent newcomer to DF editing, has released Voc2RVoc 1.0 (Downloads/Utilities). It converts VOCs to looping VOCs based on the method described by Scape Goat, but in a considerably quicker and less messy way...

The utilities page now (at long last) credits authors for their work. If there were any Mac programmers besides Brad Oliver who contributed to DFGold, mail me or post in the forums and I'll add their names to the list.
