MinesBy Ari G Released: April 1997 Download: mine.zip (9 KB) Review by Tech Krill Initial CommentsWell, how to start talking about this level. Unfortunately, I was one
of those who "will play mines" and not one of those who "have played
mines" at the time that it was announced. My little brother (ya know,
the new reviewer, Taton Qek...) had the level on his harddrive and had
spent many an hour trying to convince me that it was a great level.
After the level announcement, I decided to give it a whirl.
Level DesignWell, what to say about this. The level was very simply laid out. I had no
trouble finding the objectives, and it was very straightforward. It had some
really original qualities, despite its miniscule..ty...whatever... The door was
very impressive. There certainly isn't anybody getting through that sucker
without permission...
Level DynamicsI really loved that "not-so-hidden-death-star-plans-in-the-crow" effect. The
stormtroopers were rather quick to respond to my landing, and that was
impressive. The fight was over quickly, however, with my superior skills and
sharpshooting ability. The plans were cleverly hidden, as if in plain view.
However, the dimensional gate to the Shadow Realm sucked me in twice before I
could get to the plans. I could not believe that somebody figured out how to
shift demensions into the parallel Shadow Realm... impressive...
Level ExperienceI really enjoyed this level. I didn't get a scratch from those Imperial bastards. They tried, but to no avail. I made sure to rub it in their face after they had landed smoking on the floor. It was fun... Anyway, let's get on to the real missions. This mission scored quite well for a flop... I feel like I'm giving it too much credit. The dimensional gate was
cool...
