Initial Comments

Screenshot from Fortress Quadrigon I was encouraged by GAdRS' comment that the level would be enjoyable, and as it turned out, it actually was. The Fortress was well laid out, but I was disappointed at the number of doors you could not go through. I mean, I was an Imperial uniform and all, so why could I not go into them? Wah...

Level Design

Screenshot from Fortress Quadrigon The design was really good. It was an interesting idea too, assasinating somebody over just going in shooting. Well, now it's an overused story, but this one really makes it seem real. The only objection I had to the level design was the one keycode in the Computer Room section. I could not find it, and I had to get the forcefield down on the core thingy by manually trying out combinations. Other than that, the level was actually fun to play.

Level Dynamics

Screenshot from Fortress Quadrigon I kept running low on shielding. I had no lives left when I had finished, and I was playing on easy. Figure that one out... Anyway, I had plenty of wammo to use, so I have no complaints there. Shield and health kit placement was sparse, but realistic. I had trouble finding them, but when I did, I'd think. "Yeah, I could see somebody putting one there in real life." So that was good. Kudos for the designer :) *sigh*

I also took 2 days to figure out that you're supposed to SHOOT the hand activation thingy in the Power Room entrance. How was I supposed to know that! There were no hints...

Level Experience

The only other objectionable experience to the level was at one point where I was shot up. I returned to a safe that was at the bottom floor of an elevator that could only be activated from the inside...and I happened to be on the top floor when I died. I effectively got stuck and had to teleport into the elevator to continue the level. Other than that, great experience. I had fun poking around this fortress :)
