In order to sort the Jedi from the clones, every level that arrives
on DF-21 is given a star rating to help you decide whether or not it's
worth downloading.
This being DF-21, the ratings are given in "Death Stars", and a level
can score between one and five depending on how good we think it is,
with an emphasis on technical merit and originality.
5
Stars - Hall of Fame material. Levels that
push back the boundaries of Dark Forces editing, look stunning and
capture the "Star Wars" feeling perfectly.
4
Stars - Excellent work. Awarded to levels that are technically
innovative, pleasing to the eye, or present a worthy challenge for any
gamer.
3 Stars -
Good, but not great. Levels that are nicely put together and
challenging, but without providing any truly original moments. Probably
worth a quick look.
2 Stars - Not
good. These may contain the occasional half-decent moment, but most
likely it's buried under examples of what not to put into a Dark Forces
level.
1 Star - Not
for the faint-hearted. These levels lack any originality and are full of
bugs, excessive numbers of enemies, or both.
The DF-21 Rating System is probably subjective and intended as a
guide only- for a more reliable assessment, look out for level reviews and comments in the
DF-21 forums.
Thanks to John Johnson for the idea!
