phpBB upgraded
Posted by Fenwar on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 15:12 (EST)

The forums have been upgraded to the latest version of phpBB, to make sure we don't get qwn3d or whatever it's called these days.

It appears to have gone smoothly. In fact, almost too smoothly... If you notice anything stupid, please contact me pronto.

Editing Contests
Posted by Jackson on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 20:36 (EST)

Yes, contests in the plural...

It's the Summer 2005 Editing Contests!

You have two choices here: first is The Tower Challenge, in which you can build whatever you like, so long as the Y axis (height) is not only at least 200 DFUs high but also equal to or greater than the X and Z axes combined.

Second is As Seen in Star Wars: recreate in Dark Forces a scene or setting featured in one of the Star Wars movies. Any place will do; just try to stray away from remaking, say, an entire Star Destroyer.

As in past competitions, you may use as many sectors and objects and as much INF as you like. As well, all custom components are allowed -- feel free to make absolutely anything you need for your entry.

Submissions will be judged on originality, artisitc impression, and technical merit. A public vote will be held to decide the winners.

Anyone can enter, and all valid, working entries will be displayed at df-21.net/summer2005

How to Enter

Create the level in the DF editor of your choice, then zip it up and upload it via the script at df-21.net/upload.html. Include a text file stating your name and contact email address, along with any additional info about the entry you may wish to provide.

The deadline for entries is Monday, August 1st, 2005.

Further information may be found at df-21.net/summer2005.

Good luck!
