Subject: LightSaber Tutorial

Not that I am claiming to be a master of lightsaber wielding, I figure
I needed to atleast start the thread.

When battling the Dark Jedi, movement is the key.  When I lose a
battle, it's usually because they got me with force powers than
because they sliced me up.

When I am fighting, I stay a bit away from my opponent, usually 30 ft.
Then hopping up and down, I move towards them.  Just I am getting to
them, I attack with the secondary swing.  I usually get a piece of my
opponent on the second swing.  Then I hop off into the distance.
Never stop hopping.  The hardest opponent to beat was Boc and that's
because he never sat still.  I fought him for about 15 minutes before
I finally got him.  Movement will win the day.  Standing in front of
an opponent and swapping swipes won't work very well, mostly because
they'll fry you with Force powers.
If you do find yourself standing in front of a Jedi, wait until he
swings.  As soon as the swing is block, attack and jump up.  You can
get a hit and then dodge his next attack.  Then bounce away.

One thing that may be difficult to get use to but will help you in the
long run is that you don't need to be toe-to-toe with an adversary.
In fact. give yourself about 3 ft of space before making an attack.
If you have chased a disarmed StormTrooper around for 5 minutes,
you'll know what I am talking about.

BTW, the best way to kill a laser turrent.  Stand in front of it with
lightsaber drawn.  Then when it starts fire, continue to stand there.
And then keep standing there until it is dead.

Once you start earning force stars, put a one or two with jump and
maybe one or two with speed.  But save up four stars.  As soon as the
force Pull becomes available, get four stars worth.  A lightsaber and
Pull are the best weapons available.  I went through level 10, I think
it was, the one right before Gorc and Pic, and I had to only kill 5
people.  And one of those was actually crushed by a lift.  I was
trying to earn some Light points for not killing anyone.  But I didn't
seem to get any more points than if I had wiped out all the bad guys.

PS.  What is the point of Max (or is it Sam).  Why does he have a gun.
Why doesn't he fire back.  Why can't you kill him.   Just curious

I agree, movement is key is lightsaber duels...my technique is a bit
different.  I use the the secondary swing almost constantly while
"sidling".  On a key pad, this would be accomplished by pressing the 1
and 6 (or the 4 and 3) keys simultaneously.  You mousers and
joystickers, I don't know how to help you.   :)
While "sidling", I keep running and swinging away with the secondary
mode.  If I need to close the distance between me and the bad guy, I
let up on the SHIFT key, or let up on one of the two "sidling" keys.
It only takes a little practice to be able to close and hit any of the
Dark Jedi using this technique.  BTW, some of the Dark Jedi always
carry their lightsaber one-handed.  "Sidle" to the opposite side for
geater success.
Using this method and using healing as my "hot" force power, I
defeated all of the Dark Jedi pretty easily.  Hope it works for you.

Also, putting in slow motion helps.  Go into talk mode, and type
slowmo on

With slowmo on, you can see things in time to react to them.

Personally I find getting BEHIND your opponent is the best tactic.
Circle strafe around him and hit him in the back where he can't block.

Also the tip about using the secondary swing is crucial.  I almost
couldn't get any good hits in against Jerec with the single swing.
